A clear shot at much anticipated victory! That?s the goal, as the Wisconsin Badgers take on the Oregon Ducks for Rose Bowl supremacy on Monday, January 2, 2012. In solidarity with its hometown team, local beverage importer Gvardia LLC is sending the Badgers a (virtual) 21-shot salute and wishes the team a strong, clear and decisive victory over Oregon. The shots are of course Belaya Rus vodka, which will soon be available to Wisconsinites and throughout the Midwest, thanks to Gvardia.
Some may wonder why a Belarusian vodka company would be saluting a Wisconsin college football team. That is easily explained by Victor Agapov, exclusive Belaya Rus importer for the Midwestern region. ?There are too many uncanny similarities between Belaya Rus and the Badgers to ignore. We just couldn?t keep these coincidences to ourselves. Individually, they may not mean much. But collectively, we?ve confident they will add up to a stunning Rose Bowl victory for our beloved Badgers,? said Agapov.
For one thing, there?s beating the odds. The 2012 Bowl match-up pits the two most recent Rose Bowl losers against each other. It?s Wisconsin (2011) against Oregon (2010). Only one team will go home a winner. The significance of these two recent Rose Bowl contenders coming together again to kick off 2012 is duly noted by importer Gvardia LLC. ?We originally planned to debut Belaya Rus on New Year?s Eve 2011. But our gratification has been delayed by the distillery, just like Wisconsin?s Rose Bowl gratification was delayed in 2011. If -? or I should say when -- Wisconsin wins this year, we will take it as an auspicious sign that our now mid-February launch of Belaya Rus will occur on schedule.?
Another important parallel with the Badgers is fighting speed and style. Gvardia has already fired the official Belaya Rus warning shot to residents of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois.
?The Belarusians are coming, armed with weapons of mass distillation.? Dubbed the Great Vodka Revolt of 2012 (GVR), Belaya Rus plans to take the Midwest by fiery-icy liquid storm, advancing down the adult beverage field using taste, price agility and sheer determination.
Here, too, the Belarusian vodka has much in common with the Wisconsin Badgers football team. Badgers are known to be big and mighty, slow and steady (compared to the flight-footed Oregon Ducks). It has been noted that Wisconsin has a tremendous offensive line that will line up and pound the ball against any defense presented. In the world of vodka, ?pounding? goes a lot smoother when the price and the quality align -- as they clearly do (no pun intended) in Belaya Rus.
Produced by Belarus-based Minsk Kristall Distillery, Belaya Rus Vodka?s offensive strengths are its superior, award-winning taste and high QPR. ?QPR means Quality-to-Price Ratio,? explained Agapov. ?Football is all about statistics, and vodka is likewise numbers-driven. QPR is the most important statistic in distilled beverages. It?s kind of like PCT, SOS and SOV all rolled into one. The higher the number, the better.?
As for numbers and taste, the prestigious Beverage Tasting Institute (BTI) recently awarded Belaya Rus a Silver Medal and "Best Buy" designation with an impressive "Highly Recommended" rating (89 points) in its International Review of Spirits Competition (November 2011). http://www.tastings.com/scout_spirits.lasso?id=196670. Belaya Rus, with a SRP of $ 10.99, previously ranked higher than name brand vodkas costing twice the price, including Skyy (88) and Stoli (88). It also beat out Smirnoff (85) and hundreds of other brands costing the same or more.
Belaya Rus Vodka will be available in Wisconsin (and Minnesota and Illinois) sometime in February 2012. With any luck, it will hit the streets just in time to celebrate the Green Bay Packers playing in Super Bowl XLVI.
